A few words with WaddleSplash from Haiku Inc....

Could you tell us a bit about your project?
Netlify
Haiku is an open-source operating system that specifically targets personal computing. Inspired by the BeOS, Haiku is fast, simple to use, easy to learn and yet very powerful. The previous incarnation of the site was Drupal-based, and it used a lot of custom features and strange plugins, as well as having multiple dozen contributors and a content library dating back to 2005 or so. It’s gone down before due to high load (e.g. we got mentioned on XKCD once a while back - https://xkcd.com/806/) and was otherwise pretty fragile, not to mention that our hosting provider (in Germany) doesn’t have all that great of peering to certain parts of the world (West Coast USA, far east, etc.) So moving to a static site, preferably one served from a CDN, made a lot of sense for us to move to.

Why did you choose Netlify?
Netlify
Best feature-set (server-side static site building, custom redirects, form submission, proxying, etc. to name a few of the features we’re using). And the “free for open source” sealed the deal.

What is your favorite thing about the Netlify platform?
Netlify
The documentation is extremely well done, and the few questions that I sent to Netlify staff were all answered quite promptly and reasonably.
