React Boilerplate

The open source project, React Boilerplate, is a highly scalable, offline-first foundation with the best developer experience and a focus on performance and best practices. It helps take away some of the obstacles you may face with a new library and gives you somewhere to start.

Netlify was excited to extend an open source plan to React Boilerplate, especially since we use it in-house ourselves. Combined with a few external tools they’re able to take advantage of a workflow that enables the highest level of collaboration, a necessity for an open source project.

A few words with Max from the Contributors...

Could you tell us a little bit about your project?
Netlify
reactboilerplate.com is a website for an open source project (react-boilerplate), so naturally there’s a lot of different voices wanting to be heard. Thanks to Oliver Turner and Michael Mullins we decided to dogfood react-boilerplate by building its website with it, which isn’t necessarily the best use case for React but provided us with ample feedback to make sure the (then) unreleased third version was rock solid.

Why did you choose Netlify?
Netlify
Since React Boilerplate is an open source project, it was vital that everybody could deploy the project. Changes to master needed to be immediately reflected on the live website, one person being responsible for deployment was going to fail eventually, but was also a bottleneck. Not only does Netlify provide the perfect workflow for open source projects, the integrated deploy previews mean that we can visually see the changes before merging something to master, which is unbelievable!

What is your favorite Netlify feature?
Netlify
F-yeah :) - deploy previews!

Forest Giant

A technology partner that has clients such as Brown-Forman, Magbooth and even GE, Forest Giant is on the cusp of creative software solutions. Describing themselves as a group of “collaborative thinkers not bound to any one technology”, it was important that this be reflected in all tools that they use.

As huge proponents of Golang they looked to Netlify to enable them to be the ultimate Go shop while using Hugo as a static generator and integrating with their Git-centric workflow. Check out what Forest Giant’s tool set looks like and how they’re using Netlify today.

Carrot Creative

This site of the week comes straight from Brooklyn. Carrot Creative is a top New York agency owned by Vice Media. They’ve been named one of the best places to work in all of New York several times. This is not surprising considering their client list includes everyone from Ferrari and Rolex over H&M and Subway, and they actually bought their own pizzaria to keep their developers happy.

Here at Netlify, our biggest reason for being fans is the effort Carrot makes to push the JAMstack forward. Not only have they made a lot of great CDN based sites, but they’ve even created their own open source tooling including the site generator Roots!

www.carrot.is is cool and lightning fast! We invite you to check it out and see what they had to say about their site and about working with Netlify.

Mercury

Mercury is a new tool by trendsetting NYC agency Postlight, to automatically generate AMP pages.

It’s a great project by a great company, because it’s more than just a static page, but a single page app that really uses a “serverless” stack with Netlify as the frontend.
