The end of seats: pricing Netlify for 3 billion builders

Today we’re removing seat-based pricing from Netlify.

Previously, the Netlify Pro plan cost $20 for one seat, with each additional seat or Git contributor costing another $20 per month.

Starting today, Pro costs $20/month with unlimited seats.

This is a step-change in our pricing model for teams building on Netlify. It reflects our bet on how software gets built in the future, and expands access to give every team the ability to build without barriers.

We are also making adjustments to our meters for usage at scale. We’ve modeled these adjustments so that for 98% of our customers, the monthly bill stays the same or goes down.

  • Bandwidth will go from 10 to 20 credits per GB
  • Compute will go from 5 to 10 credits per GB-Hour
  • Web requests will go from 3 to 2 credits per 10k requests
  • Form submissions are now free

Extra credit packs are priced at $10 for 1500, making our consumption based pricing extremely competitive:

  • Bandwidth: $0.13 per GB
  • Compute: $0.07 per GB-Hour
  • Web requests: $0.01 per 10k requests

Netlify’s pricing remains intentionally simple and predictable.

Unlike many of our competitors, there are no extra charges or hidden costs for platform features like cache reads, cache writes, image transformations, origin bandwidth, or function invocations.

Netlify has just five transparent usage meters: Bandwidth, Compute, Web requests, AI inference, and Production deploys. And no seat-based pricing.

Customers on legacy Pro plans from before our introduction of credit based pricing will not see any changes to their plan, but can switch to our new credit-based plans at any time.

For the 2% of high-bandwidth or compute-heavy users whose consumption costs outpace the seat savings: we’ll be reaching out to you directly. No surprises.

Coming off our best quarter in Netlify history, we’re choosing to trade short term seat revenue to align our success with yours, and our pricing with our long term vision.

3 Billion Developers

AI-based code agents have broken down the biggest barrier to building software on the web. Anyone among the ~3 billion people who are currently online and proficient enough to use software like spreadsheets can now also build software for the web.

This is changing what a “team of builders” looks like, and it’s changing Netlify from being a tool used by a small set of dedicated developers inside a company, to being relevant to almost everyone.

At Netlify we see this firsthand:

  • Our People team builds internal tools themselves
  • Finance builds dashboards and apps
  • Our GTM team builds in-house agents managing the customer journey
  • Our support team is building agents and custom support software
  • We’ve replaced a whole suite of SaaS tools across the business with in-house solutions

And we see this in our new user base, where 65% of the 40k people signing up for Netlify every day are new to web development, and many are people adjacent to their development team, ranging from CMO’s to physical therapists.

As our platform is moving from a front-end deployment platform aimed at traditional front-end developers, to an integration platform for building and operating sites, apps and agents, we want to remove all friction for our customers to onboard their whole team.

With our new pricing, no one has to worry about seats, and we’ve managed to condense all the complexity of a modern cloud platform into just 5 credit meters: bandwidth, compute, web requests, AI inference and production deploys. We’ve set a strong foundation for a simple consumption based pricing model that will scale in the age of agents.

Seat pricing made sense for us when software was written by a handful of developers.

It makes far less sense when anyone, including any AI agent, can build software.
