Browser notifications for Agent Runners
September 22, 2026
Agent Runners can now send you browser notifications, so you can move on to other work while an agent run is in progress and know right away when it needs your attention.
Once you turn on notifications, you’ll get an alert when:
- An agent run finishes and your Deploy Preview is ready
- An agent run fails
- The agent is waiting for your input
- An answer is ready when you use ask mode
This is especially helpful for longer runs. Instead of checking back on the tab, you can switch to another tab or app and get an alert when it’s time to return to your run.
The first time you start an agent run in a browser, Netlify offers to turn on notifications. If you skip the prompt, you can turn them on later from your User settings. Learn more about accessing user settings.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Notifications are set per browser, not per account. If you turn them on in Chrome, you’ll need to turn them on separately in Safari or any other browser you use.
- You need at least one Netlify tab open to get notifications. If that tab is in focus, you’ll see an in-app message instead of a browser notification.
- To turn notifications off, change the notification permission for
app.netlify.comin your browser’s site settings.
Browser notifications use a standard web API that works in all modern browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
Try it on your next agent run, or learn more about Agent Runners in the Netlify docs.
